Strategic Outlook, Delayed Gratification, and Passion to Enlighten

DISCOVERING (2.44 – 3.55)

As someone who is still discovering how to Tie Their Knot, I encourage you to challenge yourself to see the bigger picture in your day-to-day activities. As mentally painful as it may be today to set aside your own personal ambitions to onboard another, strive to find fulfillment in teaching others the skills that will ultimately expand their own trajectory. Lastly, try demonstrating greater self-control when it comes to short-term rewards that can negatively impact your long-term prospects.

DEVELOPING (3.56 – 4.00)

At times you likely show glimpses of displaying a long-term strategic mindset in your leadership practice. You understand the value in setting others up for success, but still find yourself taking on additional work instead of properly teaching someone else to do the same work, because in your mind it’s just easier to do it yourself. When it comes to self-control and delaying gratification for longer-term prospects, you recognize you are able to do it in some areas of life but not in others. You are advised to recognize when you experience an urge to avoid tying another leader’s knot. In these instances, reflect on a time when someone helped you earlier on in your life when you needed it. Always keep in mind a little investment of time and energy upfront can pay great dividends down the road.

DEMONSTRATING (4.01 – 5.00)

As a leader who is demonstrating how to Tie Their Knot, I encourage you to share examples and stories with others of how delaying short-term rewards for longer-term ones has served you well throughout your career. Continue to seek ways to enlighten new and emerging leaders by paying your knowledge and experiences forward. Recognize when people on your team go above and beyond to develop new team members. Keep serving as a role model on how to demonstrate self- control and openly provide others seeking advice on how to become more strategic.
