DISCOVERING (2.98 – 3.62)
You should not be discouraged if you are still Discovering elements of the C.A.T.C.H. & Release Model. On the contrary, you have a great gift in front of you. With the most room to grow, a noticeable and meaningful change in the way you lead yourself and others can be attained in the future. Instead of overwhelming yourself with all of the subconstructs of the C.A.T.C.H. & Release Model, start by picking one or two of the major dimensions (i.e. Honor Their Catch or Release) at a time to improve incrementally. A suggestion you could entertain is taking one full month to seek knowledge, apply techniques, and reflect on each of the major dimensions of the model. If you stick with it, over the course of six months you will likely see significant improvements to your leadership abilities and overall understanding of your strengths and development areas. To accelerate development more rapidly consider partnering up with a coach or mentor to help guide you and instill accountability through your developmental journey.
DEVELOPING (3.63 – 3.92)
As you continue to grow on your leadership journey, it is important to fully recognize your strengths and development areas related to the C.A.T.C.H. & Release Model. My recommendation would be to leverage both your highest and lowest dimension scores as part of your development plan moving forward. With your highest score, ask yourself how you can provide even more value to those you surround yourself with. How can you pay forward the current knowledge and skills you possess within that dimension? Perhaps it’s mentoring, creating materials on your own leadership lessons learned, or simply continuing to role model the strengths you already display. For your lowest score in the C.A.T.C.H. & Release Model, examine each subconstruct carefully. Spend time reflecting and making a commitment to stretch yourself in those areas with new techniques. Don’t forget to proactively ask for feedback from others related to those areas, and make sure to celebrate your growth over time.
DEMONSTRATING (3.93 – 4.74)
Congratulations, you are currently demonstrating many elements of the C.A.T.C.H. & Release Model, but your work is not done. It is imperative that you do your part to pay forward your knowledge and wisdom to the next generation of leaders. Inspire future leaders by leveraging constructs and exercises within the C.A.T.C.H. & Release Model to better equip them to lead in the digital age. Based on the scores you have received across the six major dimensions of the model, pick one area to continue your own growth. Review the subconstructs and incorporate them into your current development plan. By role modeling that even great leaders still have room to grow, you will be encouraging others to do the same.
